Theme: NikonQ:SilverFast doesn't run on OSX 10.2.3 with my Nikon Filmscanner LS-40, LS-4000, LS-8000.NikonScan works fine - what can I do?A:As a rule of thumb: if you install both programms (NikonScan 3.1.4 and SilverFast ver. 6) on your OSX 10.2.3, make sure that SilverFast is installed last!SilverFast only = o.k.NikonScan 3.1.4 only = o.k.NikonScan then SilverFast = o.k.SilverFast then NikonScan = problems!Q:Every time I try to scan b/w film material I get really bad results, almost looking like line-art scans.A:When scanning black and white film material make sure your film scanner's dust and scratch removal function is NOT IN USE. This function can not be used in combination with b/w film material.Q:SilverFast quits as soon as I start a batch scan with the SF-200 film holder.A:SilverFast releases up to 6.0.1r11 don't support the SF-200 film holder.Recent versions (at time of writing: 6.4.x) do support both, the SF-200 and SF-210 slide holder, for all Nikon MAID scanners that are enabled to make use of such equipment. Please note that while sometimes the holders would fit mechanically, they aren't supported by the Nikon MAID drivers (LS-50, LS-40, and LS-30).According to Nikon, the SF-200 and SF-210 can be used with the LS-5000 and LS-4000. The LS-2000 can only be used together with the SF-200.If you've got an older version 6 of SilverFast and want to use the slide feeders, please download the free update to the most recent release of SilverFast 6.Q:Using the LS-2000 or LS-30 with SilverFast 6 on Macintosh OS X, I cannot use the scanner's dust & scratch removal function. Any solutions?A:Unfortunately not, as the manufacturer did not develop OSX drivers for this generation of film scanners, LaserSoft Imaging rewrote the software for the OSX adaptation for these models, and therefore we cannot control this function under OSX.
The customer service of Lasersoft, is extremely poor.Very complic. Ated registration procedures, long registration codes, difficult to enter, and has to do many steps to register, and we had to move the scanner to another PC because the old one was failing, it was necesssary to register the serial number again. But it failed, even with the correct name. There was a choice, either insert the original CD or if Silverfast was bought online, the correct name, but it was not accepted.Tried to register the software again, on web, but got an e-mail back from [email protected] that it already was registered, on an other e-mail adress. I cannot download the Catalina update. This is because when I origin.
Ally installed I opted for a disc free installation and traded my disc's Serial number for a download/registration link. That process didn't provide me with a replacement serial, and my disc's Serial now appears to have expired. To add, the support options with Siverfast seem to be filling in a form with no reply or acknowledgement, closed forums and no replies through facebook messenger.Reaching out to community now to see if anyone else has experienced the same and can help?Mega stuck here as the software crashes on opening and the support is hugely unprofessional.
